Is an inverter the same as a transformer?

An inverter is an electronic device that converts low voltage (12 or 24 volts) DC to 220 volts AC. A transformer is an electrical device that uses the principle of electromagnetic induction to convert electrical energy.

1. The inverter converts DC power (battery, storage battery) into AC power (usually 220v50HZ sine or square wave). It consists of inverter bridge, control logic and filter circuit. Widely used in air conditioners, home theaters, electric grinding wheels, electric tools, sewing machines, DVDs, VCDs, computers, etc.

2. Simply put, an inverter is an electronic device that converts low voltage (12 or 24 volts) DC to 220 volts AC. Because we usually convert 220 volts AC to DC for use, and the inverter has the opposite effect, hence the name. We are in a “mobile” era, mobile office, mobile communication, mobile leisure and entertainment.

In the state of motion, people not only need the low-voltage direct current provided by the battery or accumulator, but also the 220v alternating current which is indispensable in our daily environment, and the inverter can meet our needs.

3. A transformer is an electrical device that uses the principle of electromagnetic induction to convert electrical energy. It can convert alternating current of one voltage and current into another alternating current of the same frequency and voltage.

The role of the transformer is to change the voltage. Not only can the power generated by the power station be upgraded to high voltage to reduce transmission losses and facilitate long-distance power transmission, but also the high-voltage power can be gradually reduced for users in places where electricity is used.

Therefore, the transformer plays an extremely important role in the power grid, and is the key equipment to ensure the safety, reliability, economic operation of the power grid and the electricity consumption of people’s production and life.

The difference between transformer and inverter:

1.the nature is different:

transformer

A transformer is a device that uses the principle of electromagnetic induction to change the AC voltage. Its main components are primary coil, secondary coil and iron core (magnetic core).

Inverter

The inverter is a converter that converts DC power (battery, storage battery) into constant frequency, constant voltage or frequency-modulated and voltage-regulated AC power (usually 220V, 50Hz sine wave). It consists of inverter bridge, control logic and filter circuit.

2. Different functions:

transformer

The main functions are: voltage conversion, current conversion, impedance conversion, isolation, voltage regulation (magnetic saturation transformer) and so on.

Inverter

An inverter is an electronic device that converts low voltage (12 or 24 volts or 48 volts) DC to 220 volts AC.

3.different applications

transformer

Widely used in industry, agriculture, transportation, urban communities and other fields.

Inverter

Widely used in air conditioners, home theaters, electric grinding wheels, electric tools, sewing machines, DVDs, VCDs, computers, TVs, washing machines, range hoods, refrigerators, video recorders, massagers, fans, lighting, etc.
